Having a daily routine is equally important in trading as it is in anything else in life. Pro athletes have strict routines and in doing so become experts in their field. Trading is no different. I personally find it helpful to do my chart analysis the night before, get a good night’s sleep, and then in the morning do some light analysis on the extended session and then simply excute whatever you found the nigth before.

In reply to Rahmat. The most important points for me are good night’s sleep 7 to 8 hours and eating a good healthy breakfast. They make my brain, eyes, and mental in good condition when reading charts. I'd like to add points such as daily stretching like yoga or tai-chi and weekly exercises like biking, swimming, etc.

Well Nial, Indeed the saving grace of trading is staying out of it while the markets work themselves out. Noise is a mind bending bad influence to focus on (as I have all to often learned). As new traders we tend to want to put the work in and be involved, This I am sure is where may of us go wrong, often. Simply limiting our exposure and focusing on key focus points/levels, then walking away is a tough hurdle to cross. It is mandatory for overall success though. I personally need to develop the above mentioned habits as mine presently stink! But as I read and reflect on these lessons, I will get there. When that day comes, I will have your voice of reason to thank for overriding my loose cannon philosophies on trading. Thanks for your guidance, Dave

Another good article. I always save important ones to my smart phone. Sometimes I feel an itch to trade but these articles remind me to be patient and only trade good set ups or my edge. I never liked the idea of staring at my screen all day and eod trading allows me to trade with my job.

This “routine” trading strategy best fits my daily routine. Check for set ups at d day’s close, set and forget, till the next day.
